AGRICULTURE AND TROUBLED YOUTH

Similar to the rehabilitation center “Home On The Range”, there is also BoysGrow Farm in Kansas City, MO. You might find it familiar because it was featured on the Rachael Ray Show recently. These two locations have one thing in common: Agriculture helping youth. Agriculture is helping teens that may not have had the best upbringing and are going down a bad road, but then the agriculture lifestyle is helping them turn around. Agriculture has the power to provide troubled youth with a sense of purpose, responsibility, and personal growth. It offers them a structured and meaningful outlet for their energy and emotions. Through working with plants and animals, young people can learn about the cycles of life, the importance of nurturing and caring for living beings, and the rewards of hard work and patience. This hands-on approach can empower them to develop new skills, improve their self-esteem, and gain a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, agriculture offers opportunities for mentorship and community engagement, allowing troubled youth to build positive relationships with caring adults and peers who can guide and support them along their path toward personal development and transformation. Influencers, Political Figures, and Famous People, such as Rachael Ray, are taking a stand in agreeing in the lessons learned from a ranch, farm or any job as a youth are life lessons. HOME ON THE RANGE

A Couple of weeks back we told you about the Champions Ride Saddle Bronc Match, which will be celebrating its 67th Anniversary coming up in just a few weeks, August 5th in Sentinel Butte, North Dakota.  Yes, it’s to bring together the best of the best from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), and YES – please join us for a legendary event! 

WHY has is this Rodeo so popular?  This story goes even deeper.  It’s about kids. It’s about a facility that helps young people that need some encouragement, some guidance, and a second chance.  Today we visit the Home On The Range, in Sentinel Butte North Dakota.  It’s a story of using livestock, cattle, ranching, farming, and agriculture to give hope back to the next generation.  Greg LaBelle is the Facility Ranch and Plant Director along with being a Residential Director.  He shares a total feel-good story that uses agriculture, cattle, and embryo transfer, to teach and help rehabilitate youth that have had some trouble and tough experiences.  Let’s start there, take a listen to a bit of the back story of “Home On The Range.”

• A resolution supporting checkoff programs funded by mandatory contributions from farmers, ranchers, and meat processors was introduced in the U.S House late last week.  The lawmaker’s resolution comes in the wake of proposed legislation to reform the federal Beef Checkoff program, which critics contend promotes corporate interests over individual ranchers and farmers.
